XXXXVIII (From Heart’s Cupboard)

I hear the crash

and see the flashing lightslearning-to-play-the-violin

cars askew

the

woman limp as a doll

on the stretcher

the earth feeds

and the animals dance

the claw softens and

the fiddler finds her bow

buds open slowly     first cat

eyes     then the  break into blossom

The poem is by Edward Gates and the painting by Dorina Gates.
